1959

First institution to offer Home Science programme at an under graduate degree level in Maharashtra.

1967

Honoured with the name of the Founder – Sir Vithaldas Thackersey College of Home Science

1977

College shifted to the spacious 21 acre campus at S.N.D. T . Women’s University , Juhu, Mumbai

1995

Granted Autonomous Status by University Grants Commission (UGC), New Delhi.

1997

Smt. Laxmiben Thackersey Library inaugurated. Commencement of Self-Financed Program (Certificate/Diploma).

1998

Accredited by NAAC with 5 stars and institutional score of 78.3%. Smt. Pannaben Thackersey Sound Recording Studio inaugurated.
2004

Extension of Autonomous Status granted by UGC, till 2010-2011.
2004

Re-accredited by NAAC with B++ and institutional score between 80-85%.

2006

UGC coveted honor of College with Potential for Excellence (CPE) (2006-2009) Phase I. Initiated Post Graduate Diploma in Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics (PGCND)- SelfFinanced Program.
2008

Golden Jubilee Year Celebrations & International Conference on “Multi-disciplinary Approach to Healthy and Participatory Ageing” .
2011

College inducted for CPE grant Phase II (2009-2012).

UGC Granted Extension of Autonomous Status for 6 years (2011-12 to 2016-17)

Initiation of M.Design (Fashion Design) program under Faculty of Design , SNDTWU, Mumbai.
Received Coveted Honor of Rashtriya Achatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA-2 ) Infrastructure Grant.

2020

  • Initiated ONLINE and BLENDED LEARNING PROGRAMS – Advanced Bariatric Nutrition and Executive Program in Fashion Design under SELF FINANCED PROGRAMS
  • Organized a series of 9 webinars for 9 days in the pandemic conditions on YOU, ME and COVID – LET’S TACKLE IT TOGETHER !!
  • Adopted paperless working at all levels including admissions, results, Online teaching-learning, evaluation and examination
  • Initiated a number of student-friendly steps in the area of Mental health through SVT – Family And Child Enrichment Centre of the College.
2021

  • Award of A Grade in Fourth Cycle of NAAC Reaccreditation on March 31st, 2021.
  • Best College Award of SNDTWU , Mumbai – presented on 106th Foundation Day of SNDTWU, on July 5th, 2021
  • Initiated TWO Masters Programs – Exercise Science and Sports Nutrition and Entrepreneurship Management and Business Development (2021-2022)
  • Initiated Online Programs in Nutritional and Medical Management of PCOS in collaboration with PCOS Society India.
  • Instituting Research Grants for Faculty and Students.
  • Established Chair and Endowment Funds Created.
2022

  • Award of A Grade in 4th Cycle of NAAC, GP: 3.13(2021-2026).
  • Celebrated: Silver Jubilee of Autonomous Status (1995-2021).
  • Collaborated with Whistling Woods International for conducting an online course on Filmmaking.
  • The Department of Mass Media and Development started a graduation program according to NEP 2020.
  •  Organised 1st Sudhir Krishnaraj Thackeray endowment ORATION in January 2023 ON SUSTAINABILITY by the Department of Textile & Fashion Designing.
  • Organised a Conclave on Mission Millets: Mainstreaming Millets for a sustainable tomorrow.
  • SVT RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT CENTRE recognised as a PhD Center of SNDTWU, Mumbai.
  • Organised NAAC-sponsored Seminar on Internal quality assessment systems in the New Normal.
  • Launched an online program on the Integration of Nutrition and Ayurveda for Health and Disease in Collaboration with ONE HEALTH Pvt Limited , New Delhi
  • The ‘Save Water’ Project was taken up in collaboration with the Citizens Association for Child Rights (CACR).
  • Adopted tribal community of TRIBAL RESIDENTIAL ASHRAM SCHOOLS  in Konkan Maharashtra for 5 years 2022-2027.
  • AWARDED SVT and SNDTWU Eat Right Campus Award from FSSAI, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India.
  • Hosted the FIRST SVT GRADUATION CONVOCATION Ceremony.
2023

  • Conferment of the “Empowered Autonomous Status” to SVT College by SNDTWU , Mumbai from June 2023 to 2033.
  • Extension of Autonomous Status of SVT College for 10 years (2022-2032)
  • IMPLEMENTATION OF NATIONAL NEW EDUCATION POLICY (NEP ) 2020 FOR GRADUATE AND POSTGRADUATE PROGRAMS w.e.f 2023-2024.
  • FIVE  Major and Minor research projects awarded to SVT faculty members from SNDTWU, Mumbai.
  • Organised the 2nd Sudhir Krishnaraj Thackeray endowment ORATION  BY PADMASHREE V. MOHAN on March 22 nd 2024 
  • The Creative Director of the Renowned Fashion Luxury Brand ‘Dior’ Ms Maria Grazia from Paris, France visited the SVT college.
  • SVT Hosted the SECOND  SVT Annual Graduation and Convocation Ceremony on March 5, 2024
