Coping with stress during a COVID-19 outbreak will make you, your loved ones, and your community stronger. The session was guided by Principal Dr Jagmeet Madan and the teaching staff- Dr. Anuradha Ramesh, and Dr. Nisha Bellare. It started with defining what Health is and how it is affected by four pillars of Health i.e.  Sleep, Food, Exercise and Stress. Balancing between these four factors is important to live a healthy life. Immunity is like a shield: It protects us from the outside environment. Concept between stress and immunity was elaborated. It is said that “Sleep is Sound, Health and Happiness Abound”, thus how important sleep is in one’s life was explained. The other aspects to manage Stress was the importance of a balanced diet in one’s life. How to consume Vitamin C rich foods in our diet was taught. Our Indian spices are of great importance in maintaining good immunity .Ginger, Garlic, Black pepper, etc. other spices and condiments and their importance as functional foods was explained. Easy ways to include healthy foods in our diet was demonstrated and foods that need to be avoided were described. Easy Healthy Breakfast, Packaged lunch, snacks and Dinner recipes option ideas were given so they can be more healthy and nutritious. Instead of consuming outside food like vada pav, samosa, chaats etc., when away from home, nutritious food options were demonstrated. As we know that, India is in the unlock stage so let’s unlock our potential with good nutrition. Thus, some of the tips were given to include in one’s diet like Immunity boosting Kaadha was taught to the participants.

The other factor to maintain a healthy life is inclusion of physical activity and exercise. Yoga is the golden key that unlocks the door to peace. Benefits and importance of each asana and how to perform those were taught to the participants so that they can include them daily in their lifestyle. The participants also performed the asana and Pranayama’s during the session. New concepts of Desktop Yoga poses were also taught to the participants so that they can be performed and incorporated in their daily activity as it does not require much space and time. Certain aerobic exercise which can be performed at the workplace or at home was demonstrated live to the participants.

There’s severe panic among the citizens, a lot of them are relying on fake news and messages being spread through social media regarding the coronavirus causes or modes of treatment. Thus some of the misconceptions or myths were looked at. Awareness and busting these myths were done by flashing some myths and facts and by asking them the belief in it. A small action can be as simple as practicing good personal hygiene, like hand washing, to reduce your risk of contracting Coronavirus. It could be following proper guidelines about social distancing or helping elderly neighbors with grocery deliveries. We can all do small things that, collectively, will have a big impact. Thus Food sanitation, safety and social distancing guidelines were taught. Live demonstration on Hand washing techniques and correct ways to wear a mask and how to wash vegetables and fruits was shown. No matter which phase your state is in when it comes to COVID-19 restrictions, social distancing orders aren’t going anywhere anytime soon. That’s the bad news. But the good news? It is possible for you to perform and enjoy some activities and free yourself. Thus to relieve and cope up with stress, a session on Games and Activities was conducted by the students which helped them understand the preference of healthy eating practices.

In the end, a Question and Answer session was conducted for the participants. Participants actively participated and enjoyed the session. Lastly, a vote of thanks was proposed to all the participants present and to the teachers who organized this program which helped them understand all the aspects or factors to remain healthy and to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Feedback was collected from the participants. It was a great pleasure to conduct this session which will bring fruitful outcomes in their life. So let’s be stress free by connecting the four pillars of Health!!!
