Program : B.Sc. Food, Nutrition and Dietetics

The Food, Nutrition, and Dietetics degree program offers comprehensive knowledge of nutrition science and effective diet planning throughout all stages of life. This professional program is focused on utilizing dietary interventions and related biological sciences to enhance community health through clinical disease treatment. The department offers a variety of courses that enhance culinary skills and also provide a thorough understanding of food science and processing. Additionally, it delves into the complexities of metabolic pathways, the roles of macro and micronutrients in biological and chemical mechanisms, as well as regulatory processes within the body. Practical on-the-job training is incorporated to facilitate the understanding of the interplay between nutrition, athletic performance, and other health sciences.

Duration : 3 years ( Degree in Food, Nutrition and Dietetics)
Eligibility : HSC in Home Science/Science with Chemistry & Biology.

The Department of Food, Nutrition and Dietetics aims at producing professionals who are able to maintain and promote health through diet and good nutrition. The Department promotes involvement in the community with a view to cater to the nutritional needs of diverse population groups like children, women, elderly and sports persons. It also aims in developing entrepreneurial skills among its students. The Department collaborates with Food Industries, Hospitals and Medical organizations, Gymnasium and Fitness Centers and Community Welfare Organizations to provide its students the necessary exposure and practical training.

  • Students will be able to Indicate composition and chemistry of different foods and changes that occur during cooking/processing of foods
  • Students will be able to Explain the science of nutrition in relation to macro and micronutrients in health and diseases
  • Students will be able to execute informed decisions about healthy diet in health and disease
  • Students will be able to Implement the knowledge of food microbiology, food preservation, sanitation and hygiene in food production and service
