Insight into Institution-Industry Interface in Home-Science
Home-Science is an applied science that derives its contents from pure sciences, social sciences and humanities. The scope and responsibilities of educational institutes have increased many folds. University Grants Commission (UGC) has realized the importance of University-Industry (U-I) collaboration and proposed multi-layered policy interventions to facilitate U-I synergism. The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) has emphasized the importance of collaboration with industry or other agencies of professional and social relevance.
Thus, to fulfill the requirements of funding and accrediting bodies, and in the context of the changing global economic scenario, there is a need to establish interaction between educational institutions and corporations – industry. In the field of Home-Science, availability of published literature on linkages is limited. An attempt is made through this book to throw light on the potential of Home-Science as a discipline; sensitize educationists to the innumerable possibilities of careers in various industries and share practices with all.
About the Authors
SUNANDA CHANDE Ph.D.
Former Principal, Sir Vithaldas Thackersey College of Home-Science (Empowered Autonomous Status), SNDT Women’s University, Mumbai.
Dr Sunanda Chande taught for over 35 years at S.V.T. College of Home-Science (Empowered Autonomous Status) and retired from there as a Principal. During her teaching career, she introduced innovative subjects, organized many academic endeavours; participated in national and international
seminars and conferences.
She has conducted minor and major research projects and guided students for Master’s thesis. She has co-authored a book on “Introduction to Leadership Development” and contributed to chapters in other books.
KAMINI PRADHAN Ph.D.
Former Assistant Professor, Sir Vithaldas Thackersey College of Home-Science (Empowered Autonomous Status), SNDT Women’s University, Mumbai.
Dr Kamini Pradhan’s professional experience encompasses a distinguished twenty five year long career as an Assistant Professor at SVT College of Home-Science (Empowered Autonomous Status), Mumbai and a successful stint as the Principal, Integrated Child Development Services, Government of India.
As an academic and lifelong educator in the field of Communication and Extension Education, she is committed to conduct research in social communication with the potential to reach the unreached. She is interested in applying innovative research methods to areas of interest such as; Entrepreneurship, Leadership, Development Communication, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Audio-Visual Production.
