To begin with, a big shout out to SVT College of Home Science for completing 25 years of autonomous status.
CONGRATULATIONS to everyone associated with SVT College – the administration, the faculty, the staff, and last but not the least, the students!!! The whole experience at SVT gave me a solid foundation as I pursued higher studies and then into my career.
The program was so much more than I could have imagined. I graduated in Applied Nutrition from the Department of Food, Nutrition and Dietetics in 2000. The program invigorated my love for the field of nutrition and inculcated the skills I needed to move forward.
Apart from nutrition, I also learned about other subjects, such as child development, psychology and communications; learnings of which I have carried with me in my professional career as well as personal life.
The thing that most stands out for me when I think of SVT is its faculty. Dr. Ramaswamy, Dr. Madan, Dr. Mistry, Dr. Godhia, Dr. Battalwar – the teachings, support and guidance I received from you was phenomenal. All of you have supported me through my highs and lows, and there are no words to express my gratitude to all of you.
The other thing that I fondly remember are the times my classmates and I spent together working on projects, presentations, and street plays. Those group activities surely taught me important life skills of leadership, decision making and teamwork. I still reminisce my college days through pictures of working on projects, college fest, trips and conferences.
The three years of college went by fast, but I’m grateful for the lifelong lessons learned and the friendships formed that I will carry with me throughout my life.
